Celebrating the beauty and uniqueness of the creative process, “Drawing Glass” is a project realized in 2013 by Fabrica which will be on display from today, January 18 at the prestigious showroom Silvera Bac in Paris.

Imagine to abandon the digital design tools and choose their traditional, analog counterpart instead: how does an idea, a few lines of ink on paper transform into a physical object? How can a designer succeed in making their creative vision readable, thus allowing the producer to receive the information and bring it to life? Curated by Fabrica’s design director Sam Baron, “Drawing Glass” tells the fascinating story of 14 exploratory hand drawings which turn into a limited edition glass collection.

Designed by Sam Baron together with five young, international designers participating in Fabrica’s cross-disciplinary design residency (Dean Brown, Charlotte Juillard, Giorgia Zanellato, Ryu Yamamoto, and Valentina Carretta) and the renowned Italian duo Trimarchi-Farresin from Formafantasma as guest-designers, the series of 1:1 compositions (without measurements) is interpreted and given a three-dimensional existence by Italian glass blower Massimo Lunardon.

A curiously sculptural ornamental vase; a bottle and a cup which become part of the imaginary construction site of a city yet to be built; a Japanese character which evolves into a 3D object: the 14 artworks consisting of their original drawing and a glass object (both signed and numbered) are poetic and delicate. A marvelous cross-over work mixing art and design.
