A complex artist with many interests, Cocteau decisively contributed in forming the European cultural climate of the first half of the century. The Warhol Museum of Pittsburgh now pays homage to a thorough exhibition including over 200 works.
Drawings, books, manuscripts, posters, and phonographs testify to the French author's long and fruitful career. Active as a poet from the 10s, he was also a screenplay writer, composer, director, and illustrator. In addition to his portraits of Picasso, Klee, and Proust, there are also the screenplays and scene sketches for the films “Les enfants terribles” and “Orpheus” , original editions, and sketchbook.
