K-studio is carrying forward the enhancement of an early 1900s distillery on the western coast of the Peloponnese, which the same architects had already adapted for reuse in 2019. The idea was to convert the starkly Brutalist complex—made up of two parallel concrete blocks and two imposing central silos—into a hotel that weaves together industrial memory and Ionian Dolce Vita. Originally, the project involved transforming the concrete fermentation tanks into a sequence of sea-view guest rooms, while the silos, reflected in a dramatic water mirror, were converted into shared spaces. With the latest intervention, the linear seafront block has been extended and eight new suites have been added. A lightweight structure of wood and metal, with expansive glazed surfaces in keeping with the language established in the earlier phase, rests lightly upon the massive concrete body of the existing building. It echoes the original structural rhythm while softening its gravity through a minimalist vocabulary that subtly nods to nautical atmospheres.
