Metal frame wraps a house in the Lazio countryside

Deltastudio turned an old agricultural warehouse into a residence open to the landscape, using a metal structure to regulate the interactions between inside and outside.

Immersed in the countryside of Viterbo, Italy, the Elena residence was born from the transformation of an old ruin, historically used as an agricultural warehouse. In Caprarola, Deltastudio investigates new relationships between architecture and landscape with a series of addition and subtraction interventions on the architectural volume. A metal frame running along its entire perimeter is the most significant element of the new intervention.

This structure redesigns the relationships between solids and voids, frames the overlooks and performs the function of shading during the day and lighting in the evening hours. The studio also rethinks the interiors working by subtraction, designing open, minimalist environments always in visual relationship with the surrounding nature. Deltastudio combines shapes and materials of the various architectural elements in order to obtain abstract and sculptural compositions.
