New Lego campus: bricks on the walls and 4,150 solar panels

Lego Group opened the first phase of its new Campus in Billund, Denmark. Designed by C.F. Møller Architects, it will house more than 2,000 employees after its completion in 2021.

Lego Group opened its new campus in Billund, Denmark, after four years of construction. Designed by C.F. Møller Architects, it will be fully completed in 2021: at that time the campus will house more than 2,000 employees, on a surface of 54,000 square meters. The space aims to inspire creativity and fun through the design and the structure, adding two huge Lego bricks on the roof, and using bricks on the exterior walls.

The interiors are inspired by the famous brick too: circular lamps on the ceiling recall its shape, and brigh colors such as yellow or green remind a playful world. Lego campus provides the employees workspaces for individual or team work, offering the chance to choose the best environment to create. The new buildings include play areas, lounges and outdoor parks open to the public, and by 2021 an auditorium, a fitness centre and a cafè will open. Paying attention to sustainability, the campus supplies half of the energy with 4,150 solar panels on the roof of the parking garage, and rooftops are covered with Sedum plants absorbing water and CO2.
