A small but bold library revitalises a corner of southeast London

In the Borough of Southwark, We Made That has completed the extension of a library – landmarking it with bold red corrugated cladding.

Red painted corrugated sheet metal cladding characterises the new extension of the East Street Library in London's Borough of Southwark.

We Made That has conceived an economic but nevertheless impactful intervention to revitalise a corner of a busy street, offering new community spaces for the district and becoming a new landmark in the urban landscape.

The building's main node is the corner, where a window connects the interior spaces with the street and a turret becomes a recognizable signal that illuminates the public space at night.
