Beijing. Robot 3 designs a new ramen bar in black stone

After the White Metal Hut, Beijing-based architecture studio, Robot 3 Studio designed the Arrival – Lucky Kabob Bar 2.0, in antithesis with the first ramen bar opened in the Chinese capital in 2016. The White Metal Hut was a long, narrow room completely clad in corrugated metal sheet, divided by a series of semi-transparent walls.

The Arrival bar is a much larger room, but paradoxically darker. You live in a sort of twilight because all the light is absorbed by the black stone that covers the series of septa used to articulate the space. Like great and mysterious monoliths, they hide tables for two or more people. And another mysterious object in wrought copper, light and brilliant, floats on the heads of the guests of the ramen bar.
