Lorenzo Rossi: company restaurant Indesit, Fabriano

A transparent and minimalist pointed prism houses the Indesit canteen.

The building sits on a triangular site, whose geometry it has interpreted. It is shaped like a pointed prism, generated by a broken line that defines the plan. The prism is transparent like a crystal, projecting from its orthogonal base at ground level. The projection reaches a length of six metres on the point facing south-east, while the large dimensions of the sheets of glass accentuate the transparency and heighten the atmosphere of the double-height space at the front. The use of glass and the broken line give the building a dynamic and changing appearance. The geometric complexity meanwhile is counterbalanced by the minimalism of the detailing.

The building houses the staff canteen of the Indesit company and sits adjacent to the company headquarters. A 30-metre-long pedestrian ramp in steel connects the first floor to the offices. The kitchens are on the ground floor, while the first floor houses the circulation area and the main dining area. On the second floor is another dining room, the bar and three private rooms. The total floor area is 1600 square metres. The main structure consists of a frame of beams and columns in reinforced concrete.
