Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and his practice OMA, are the winners of the 2003 edition of the Architekturpreis Berlin, one of the most prestigious German awards, organised since 1992 by the Senate of Stadtentwicklung (urban planning) and given every three years for a building in the Berlin area. The award has been given for the most recent project by the Rotterdam based practice, the Dutch Embassy in Berlin, opened just a few days ago. “The building invites the visitor to deal with the notion of the complexity of spatial organisation, complexity that does not generate confusion, but on the contrary is well decipherable” stated the jury.
