Ten years of Foreign Office Architects
The “coolest architects in the world” according to the Times and “Gracious, thoughtful, sensitive to other cultures and yet original and strong-willed” as described by the Guardian – there is no doubt that Foreign Office Architects (FOA) are considered the architects of the moment and are much loved in Great Britain.
This is demonstrated by the many competitions won – the latest being for the BBC music centre in London –, the fact that these two “foreigners” (Farshid Moussavi is Iranian and Alejandro Zaera-Polo is Spanish) were chosen to represent Great Britain at the last Venice Biennale; finally it is confirmed by the major retrospective being held at London’s ICA (until the end of February) on their works, to “celebrate” the practice’s tenth birthday.
What is being presented to the public is ten years of projects, but also the path taken to get there: from films to music and literature. It invites visitors to take a look inside their office and see how they work.
