Best known as the initiator of tubular metal furniture - he designed the famous Vasilij chairs, dedicated to Kandindskij - the German architect (1902-1981) moved to the USA in 1937 where he was able to develop his work on housing types and build dwellings which the retrospective at the Vitra Museum aims to make better known to the public.
