Winner of the international competition launched in January to design the new British Embassy in Warsaw is Tony Fretton. The London practice proposed for the embassy an unusual cladding in translucent panels of coloured stone and have designed a building which is set back from the main street, facing onto a private garden. The other competition finalists were Benson and Forsyth Architects, Adjaye Associates, David Chipperfield Architects, Denton Corker Marshall and Hoger Hare.
