Santiago Calatrava is the winner of the competition launched in the Autumn of 2001 for the building of a new performance hall for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Beating the other two finalists – Candanian practice Bing Thom and Danish team Schmidt Hammer & Lassen – the Spanish architect, with his second major project following the Milwaukee Art Museum opened last October, has been appointed for the 240 million dollar project.

The final design should be ready by the Spring of 2003, whilst work on site is due to start in 2005.
