In Dubai, the construction of a residential development surrounded by a major urban green project was announced this week. Called The Wilds, the project is the third development in Dubai under a joint venture between Dubai Holding and developer Aldar.
Located along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, across from Global Village, The Wilds is in one of Dubai's most up-and-coming affluent areas. With nearly 1,700 homes, including five- and six-bedroom villas designed by Lebanese architect Nabil Gholam, three- to five-bedroom villas, and one- to three-bedroom apartments, each home is surrounded by ecological corridors and green spaces that provide privacy in nature.

The first project of its kind in Dubai, the park is designed as a natural oasis in the metropolis' urban matrix, housing the largest and most diverse collection of wildlife within a residential community in the emirate. Indeed, it will stand out for the safe integration and conservation of a wide variety of species, along with the selection of native plants in the woodland sanctuary. Ponds, meadows and dry streams will further enrich the landscape, with duck houses blending seamlessly with the waterways. Artificial bird nests and beekeeping areas will also be scattered throughout the community.
A prominent architectural feature of the complex is The Nest, a community pavilion that connects to the surrounding natural environment, serving as a visual landmark and gathering space for residents. For younger residents, this element will house a curiosity area dedicated to observing wildlife and learning about the environment.
