Greyp G6, the extreme e-bike: powerful and connected

It is produced by Rimac, the creators of one of the fastest ever electric vehicles.

Greyp is a pedal-assist bike which combines a well-designed and aggressive style with outstanding performance. The chosen format is that of the mountain bike (or rather e-MBT enduro) with a robust frame in composite material reinforced with carbon fibre sporting 27.5-inch wheels, 150-mm travel suspension and an accentuated battery pack. The LG 700 Wh battery is set right in the centre of the frame in a highly-visible position and can be removed for easy charging.

As well as the 250-Watt motor which peaks at 450 Watts, what makes this G6 a super-car is the manufacturer. Greyp is in fact an off-shoot of Riman, the Croatian company that in 2013 unveiled the Concept One, an electric 1088-HP beast with 1,600 Nm of torque and a top speed of 355 km/h, which has been hailed as the electric anti-Lamborghini. The company is now 10% owned by Porsche and has decided to apply its skills to pedalled transport.

On board is the Central Intelligence Module (CIM), an intelligent control unit which uses telemetry data and heart rate to adjust the level of electrical assistance for optimal performance. It also offers a colour display, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and 3G (via eSIM), GPS, a gyroscope, accelerometer and barometer, as well as a USB-C socket. Two video cameras set on the CIM and under the saddle complete the technological equipment. The two digital eyes, offering a resolution of 1080 p at 30 fps have been provided to produce online footage of excursions or to create exciting videos of our open-air adventures. The handle sports a dedicated “social” button: a press instantly shares the last 15 or 30 seconds, with bike data superimposed.

Lastly, we have range and price. For the first, the manufacturer guarantees up to 100 km of pedalling, which can vary greatly according to the route and motor use. The cost is that of a super-car. The range starts with the entry-level model, the G6.1, which is limited at 25 km/h and costs € 6,499, and goes up to the top model, the G6.3, which reaches 45 km/h and costs 7,499.
