Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, together with his studio BIG, is masterplanning a new city for entrepreneur Marc Lore, NBA owner and former President and CEO of Walmart U.S. eCommerce, who in 2016 sold to Walmart his company Jet.com for $3.3 billion. Called Telosa, the city is set to be built from scratch on an unoccupied 150,000-acre site in the western US desert. According to Lore, this would allow Telosa to become "the most sustainable city in the world […] supported by a reformed version of capitalism".

BIG and multi-millionaire Marc Lore are designing the city of the future to be built in the American desert, an example of "equality and sustainability" for the generations to come, they say.

The vision is to create a city for 50,000 people by 2030, envisioned to grow up to a population of 5 million over the next 40 years. Lore wants to acquire a large plot of land that would be donated to a community endowment. In this way the city's development could be fund by its increasing value, which would improve also the resident's welfare. Through this work Ingels and Lore set themselves the goal to "fix global standard for urban living, expanding human potential and", as the statement on BIG's website said, “create a blueprint for future generations".
