It is not yet known when construction will begin, where exactly it will be located (perhaps near the Burj Khalifa), or who the design firm will be, but its name hovers in the air and is already a promise (or a threat?): The Trump International Hotel & Tower will be the new skyscraper planned by the Trump Organization and the development company DarGlobal that will burst (perhaps in 2031) into Dubai's skyline, already dotted with top -notch buildings, with its own record.
Although it is “only” 350 metres high, making it vain to compete with many of the city's other soaring skyscrapers, the building will house the world's tallest open-air swimming pool, earning its well-deserved place in the global spotlight (as if its name were not already an eloquent calling card). The building's 80 storeys will contain residential spaces and sumptuous suites inspired by the luxury of the Trump Power Penthouse on New York's Fifth Avenue, as well as hotels and services of excellence.
Although the expectations prefigure a feast of tangible opulence even in the architectural style, the images leaked onto the web depict an unsuspectedly sober and elegant building, characterised by a rational volume and culminating at the top in a frame delimiting a vast empty space and reminiscent of a gigantic handle. As if the one who conceived the building also had the super-power (among many) to detach it from there and easily carry it away when needed.
