The first space in Italy entirely devoted to virtual reality cinema opens

“Anteo Rai Cinema virtual reality space” inaugurates on May 2023, and will offer regular programming of VR-only content throughout the year.

On the occasion of the 44th birthday of the Cinema Anteo, in Milan, “Anteo Rai Cinema virtual reality space” will be opened. It will be the first space in Italy equipped to enjoy works that expand into the dimension of virtual reality. The space will house continuously VR Experience with 20 headsets and headsets. Despite being an individual experience, the fact of being welcomed into a cinema makes it collective.

The first VR content proposed in the programming will be Lockdown 2020 - L’Italia invisibile (Shut down 2020 - Invisible Italy), a documentary by Omar Rashid that shows the unique journey between beauty and desolation of the most significant Italian art cities during the Covid pandemic; La Divina Commedia VR - Inferno (The Divine Comedy – Hell) by Federico Basso and Alessandro Parrello, with the voice of Francesco Pannofino; Vulcano - La vita che dorme (Volcano – The Sleeping Life) by Omar Rashid, which shows the eruption of the eruption of the Icelandic volcano on Mount Fagradalsfjall; Happy Birthday, short film with the participation of the singer Achille Lauro, which explores the theme of social isolation.

On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May, the audience will have the chance to preview the new space and the VR Experience for free. The programming will start from Friday, May 19th.
