Insiders & Company: a book collects the new interior design artisans

The secret is one: to preserve the ancient love of materials and adapt it to the aesthetics of the modern. A book collects the best of contemporary craftsmanship.

Ancient artisan techniques and designers meet to define modernity in creations. This is because objects must resist the passage of time. They must be of quality, and this only happens when they are made to withstand, over time, with artisan techniques. In short, it is not (just) important that they are beautiful, but also durable and impeccably unique. Insiders & Company (Gestalten 39.90 euros), unveils how the best pieces of furniture are made, informs you how to buy them and revives the craft world, which is more fashionable than ever. To put it in the words of the Londoner Sebastian Cox, who creates objects in which the beauty of the materials is in first place: “I truly believe that many of the challenges of materials can be overcome by combining an ancient approach to material and design, with the amazing technique and progress of today”.

Here it is told how the carpets of La Manufacture Cogolin are produced in France, showing the line “Jardin Intérieur” by India Mahdavi and the lines of Charles Zana. Then there is the Dinesen Danish floor “A wooden floor can bring a human and natural touch to an architecture that would otherwise be cold and minimal”. Marcin Rusak and his study of flowers and the potential for beauty that derives from it. Cristina Celestino's porcelains and ceramics, for her: “The work is to assimilate and explore the beauty that surrounds us in order to translate it into real projects, creating interiors and objects that have a contemporary attitude”. Then there is the trimming of the Parisian Houlès and the ornamental and decorative fabrics. The RENS Dutch, on the other hand, revive the industrial inventions of red-toned carpets: guaranteed, no carpet is the same as the other. The fairy-tale and decorative collections of Roi du Lac, a Rome-based duo founded by Marco Kinloch and Antea Brugnoni in 2016: scarves, wallpaper, candles, and more. Then there are the two-dimensional carpets by Patricia Urquiola. With addresses of the best of the best in the world.
