The first Domus issue directed by Michele De Lucchi features “Dear Domus” a column dedicated to our readers. The first one received is a drawing by former director Alessandro Mendini. The director’s answer was: Dear Alessandro, Get ready, because I’m about to take revenge! You drew me naked as a worm, gaunt as a hermit, like a bushy-bearded hobo armed with a hammer and sickle, a 1968-inspired activist. At second thought, I like it, I really like it! After all, you’re sending me some constructive messages: I’ll disrobe of preconceptions and conventions. I’ll shed many useless superstructures. I’ll accept a few inconveniences in favour of a bit of freedom. I will carry high the banner of revolutionary ideas to promote a better future. These will not be a hammer and sickle, but a T-square and a goniometer. If this is what you meant, I am delighted and approve of your caricature. Thank you so much! Affectionately yours,
Michele
