Antonio Marras SS18

Antonio Marras’ fashion show transformed the building site of the Teatro Lirico in Milan into a moment of historical valorisation, opening an otherwise inaccessible extra-ordinary space.

“Cantiere-evento” is an innovative experiment designed and organised by Fondazione Gianfranco Dioguardi in the field of urban construction. It aims to follow the restoration of Teatro Lirico in Milan, closed for 18 years. A festival of art, music, theatre, dance, cinema and fashion will animate Teatro Lirico until the conclusion of the restoration.

The initiative was born from the wish to prevent the discomfort that construction sites always brings – whether it’s a refurbishment or a new construction – turning it into a moment of knowledge and historical valorisation together with technical and artistic dissemination of specific cultural values for the citizens and therefore to the whole city. The first in a series of initiatives has been the Spring 2018 ready-to-wear fashion show by stylist Antonio Marras inspired by oniric scenographies of Federico Fellini. The theatre, as Marras writes “appears as a post-industrial cathedral in a mediaeval-future, an enormous empty box inhabited by scaffolding, beams and girders which provide the backdrop for well-known or familiar characters, or ones simply imagined in another, parallel universe”.

An unusual and significant project, the fashion show represented an unprecedented way to live an otherwise inaccessible extra-ordinary space. In this way Teatro Lirico returns to life; from the construction stage to the end of the renovation, developing activities that could be culturally significant performances for the citizens.
