A Driade Revolution

Revolution – with some letters reversed – is the paradigm chosen by Driade to describe a well-structured and complex collection, adding to and completing the dining space ideas launched last year. #MDW2017

While Philippe Starck with Torquemada has designed a new family comprising table, chair, armchair and stool hand-carved in solid oak Konstantin Grcic has come up with a new wooden version of the table to complete the Mingx collection, a philological rereading of the age-old Chinese chair.

Francesco Librizzi also enters the list of designers invited by the top-end Italian brand, proposing a coffee table with an unusual appearance and functions. Consistently with his design path, Librizzi came to product design via the design of spaces and presents the Still Life coffee table in the Driade catalogue.
“One experience that left its mark on me was the work of Francisco Zurbaran,” – Librizzi tells Domus – “several elements coexist in his still-lifes in a co-presence of both the mineral and organic worlds.” The table designed for Driade is brought to life by the objects placed on it and the play of object selection is reiterated by the mirror effect produced by the polished aluminium.
