During the Milano Design Week, Zara Home has invited British contemporary artist Simon Costin to curate a creative collaboration featuring the Spring Summer 2017 collection. For the occasion, the project uses the brand’s Milan flagship store as a platform where a surreal concept entitled “La Grande Illusione”, becomes reality through sets of playful, immersive displays and mannequins.

Finding inspiration in the unexpected, Costin took as a starting point a set of 18th century engravings, which illustrate characters dressed in arts and crafts gowns – individuals covered in utensils portraying their profession. This reference led Simon to envision models wearing the Spring Summer 2017 collection.
The artist aspired to make the products come to life by creating interaction between the objects and the models. The new collection comes to life in this magical world, a fairy-like universe.
To heighten the collaboration’s vision of art, Costin called upon the talent of Thierry Boutemy, one of the most esteemed Parisian florists in the art, fashion and film industry.
