Guisset: La Fresque

The hair of the heroine inspired the set in between installations and projections, designed by Constance Guisset for Angelin Preljocaj’s La Fresque ballet.

La Fresque is the third collaboration between Constance Guisset and Angelin Preljocaj, after Le Funambule (2009) and Les Nuits (2013). The ballet is an adaptation of a Chinese tale. The plot deals with a mysterious painting, figuring a beautiful woman. The hair of the heroine is an essential element of the plot and it inspired a set between installations and projections.

Constance Guisset: La Fresque

Constance Guisset worked a lot with fake hair – especially for the videos. This material unfolds and draws living landscapes: there are not just curls of hair, but become undulating hills, evanescent smoke, enveloping jungle... The swirls mingle and disentangle following the choreography, between appearances and holograms. The music was specially made for the show by Nicolas Godin, one of the two members of the band Air.
