In the editorial, Nicola di Battista confronts the MAXXI architecture collection with the exhibition “Comunità Italia” at Milan Triennale to state the need of a more clear and shared language for the Italian architecture

This month Domus presents: the new display and the extension of the Grande Museo del Duomo in Florence by Natalini Architetti and Guicciardini&Magni Architetti; a residential complex in London by Jaccaud Zein Architects, which is a fresh interpretation of the traditional British terrace house and the project for Qatar’s lounges in Doha by Citterio-Viel & Partners. Domus also presents the Theater of Architecuture, which Mario Botta is building in Mendrisio.

Alessandro Mendini recounts the role of magazines for architecture as a discipline; Renzo Piano his idea on the Italian suburbs; Naoto Fukasawa ponders the qualities that turn a common object into a fetishist icon and Donata Parruccini tells us her story as a designer. Jannis Kounellis graciously tells Domus readers how he has spent his 60 years in Italy where he arrived from Greece.

By combining urban planning with architectural design, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism in São Paulo aims to shape interdisciplinary professionals able to tackle the requirements of architecture, urbanism and design. A conviction that architecture is entirely a matter of form and content is the basis of Beate Hølmebakk’s teaching at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
