Nendo: Slice

Japanese studio Nendo designed a new wristwatch called “Slice” for the Italian brand Nava Design, by slicing a cylindrical piece of metal at regular intervals.

Slice, designed by Nendo for Nava Design, is a watch that appears to have been created by slicing a cylindrical piece of metal at regular intervals.

Each of the two designs – “numbers” and “gradations” – remind wearers of the sections that remain after the parts have been cut away. “We wanted to visualise the wristwatch’s function as a tool that ‘cuts out’ time as it passes by, always at the same pace and speed,” explains Nendo.

Founded in 1970, Nava Design decided from the beginning to work with leading international designers. The study and the development of the products find the right balance between functionality and aesthetic sensitivity, which is the base for Nava philosophy. Refined materials, quality and innovation characterize all products, translating a design that goes beyond vain fashion. Currently the world’s Nava is declined in three catalogues, Bags and Accessories, Stationery, Design watches that communicate trough a single language “The Design”.
