We've all heard it. It's been almost five years since the housing bubble burst in the US and Europe and the dream of owning your own household vanished. Meanwhile, in Mexico, the country has also witnessed a profound series of housing reforms that have been taking place throughout the past decade, and even then, it seems like only a few are discussing this serious issue. This said, it seems particularly relevant to question the contemporary situation of housing in Mexico no. Given what has happened throughout the globe in this particular subject, what can be learned from the lessons of the housing crisis in other contexts?
The exceptional cover designed by Arturo Ortiz Struck, the absorbing photo-essay by Onnis Luque and an "obscure and juvenile" Mixtape inspired in the iconic housing complex of Tlatelolco by Ñaka Ñaka (Jerónimo Jiménez) pave the way to projects and interventions from young Mexican studios such as Arkraft Studio, Juan Carral, Hierve Diseñería, and Tiliche, as well as to the work of British practice Architecture 00:/, the Belgian firm Architecten de Vylder Vinck Taillieu and Argentinean artist Enrique Ježik. Domus México 02 includes contributions by Lourdes Cruz, Alejandro Cartagena, Alexander Cziharz, Filip Dujardin, Natalie Espinosa, Homero Fernández, Beatrice Galilee, Amanda de la Garza, Daniel Garza Usabiaga, Terence Gower, Jimena Hogrebe, Pablo Landa, Justin McGuirk, Cristobal Palma, Thomas Watkin, and many more.

About the cover
The politics of housing in Mexico is the most evident manifestation of the historic modes of production that shape its cities. The millions of houses that have been built over the last fifteen years not only evidence the current development frenzy, but also reflect an institutional contempt towards a large and vulnerable sector of population. In Progresión (2010), Arturo Ortiz Struck critiques the concept of housing and its inhabitants as a mere economic gear.
