The Domus for iPad launch

Gathering numerous journalists and architects in an informal context, the Domus iPad party and launch offered an opportunity to test-drive the new app and to consider the future of architecture publishing.

How to talk about architecture? Different channels of communication offer different possibilities, and yet the challenge lies in understanding how to explore each means' full potential, taking advantage of a variety of channels — digital or not — that can complement and reinforce each other. With these words, Domus' editor in chief Joseph Grima introduced the new edition of Domus for iPad, last 28 August at the Venice Architecture Biennale. The app isn't merely a digital version of the printed magazine, but explores the full potential of the iPad, with several new and exclusive multimedia contents.

The theme resonated with the world of architecture, drawing numerous journalists and architects to the launch, which, at the entrance of the Giardini, offered an opportunity to test and explore the Domus iPad app, while simultaneously debate the future of architecture publishing in an informal context. The evening also offered an opportunity to present Domus partner Curry Stone Design Prize's 2012 edition, the winners of which will be announced in October, and to launch Domusweb in Spanish.

Developed in an Adobe platform, the Domus iPad app was designed by Domus art director Marco Ferrari, in collaboration with interaction designers Manuel Ehrenfeld and Dan Hill.

The Domus iPad app will be available from mid-September at the Apple Newsstand.
