In a US first, Established & Sons will be presenting Iris, a series of five finely engineered limited edition low tables, by acclaimed British design studio Barber Osgerby. Designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby created each Iris piece with its own specific colour spectrum, in a shape that best showcases its rich palette. The composition, whether a soft gradation or distinct tonal differences, has been carefully developed to capture the beauty of the traditional swatch chart in three-dimension. "Colour is a very important consideration in any designed object. When a variety of shades are laid out on a table, suddenly the pattern becomes uplifting and alive, in the same way that the array of spines on a bookshelf brings a room to life", say Barber and Osgerby. "With almost all our projects we use swatches at some stage in the design process. These can be fabric samples, paint charts, dye coatings or a Pantone book of printing inks; whatever the type, they always look beautiful in their graphic layout and arrangement. The larger the spectrum, the more striking it is, as each colour is described through close tones." The Iris series has been designed in the following palette: Ø1500 in grey, Iris Ø1300 in blue, Iris Ø1200 in green, Iris Ø600 in pink and Iris Ø500 in yellow, gold and pink. The tables are fabricated from a single geometrical component of solid aluminium, repeated to connect as a tessellated ring. Each section is also individually anodised to create a unique hue specific to that single part, so no two pieces are alike. To celebrate the craft behind the series, a visual display documenting the manufacturing process will be projected at the installation. Established & Sons CEO Maurizio Mussati comments, "We wanted to reveal something at Design Miami that we had never shown before in the USA, the tables are a fine balance of visual beauty and cutting-edge technology". In addition to the presentation at the design fair, Established & Sons will also partner with the renowned Luminaire Lab. The award-winning Surface Table and the newly re-launched Surface Chair by Royal Designers for Industry, John Barnard and Terence Woodgate, alongside the Lighthouse by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec will be on display at the showroom. Maurizio Mussati further comments, "Nasir Kassamali has captivated Luminaire visitors with expertly curated environments and the best in furniture, lighting and accessories for over three decades. We see this as a continuation of our long-standing relationship with Luminaire".
