During the London Design Festival from 24th-27th
September, Autoban – Istanbul-based architecture, interior
design and product design studio, founded by Seyhan
Özdemir (architect) and Sefer Çaglar (interior architect) –
will introduce four new products with an exhibition titled
"Product" at the A Foundation in Shoreditch. New products
at the A Foundation "Product" exhibition include Deco Sofa,
Nest Lounge Chair and Holy Table made from premium
solid wood from sustainable sources, and Reedy Bookshelf
made from solid wood and also one of Autoban's favourite
industrial materials, iron. Deco Sofa has an oversize
seating area embraced by artistically detailed planes of
solid wood; Nest Lounge Chair has a soft seating area with
a surrounding shell of timber slats, making a cosy "nest"
for the user; Holy Table makes skillful use of timber to
create a form reminiscent of an altar, turning every dinner
into a ceremony; and Reedy Bookshelf is a modular
bookcase allowing the user to create a personal reading
environment with a form that recalls the tall water-side
grasses of nature. The products are born of collaboration
with De La Espada, benefitting from the complementary
expertise of the two design firms. Autoban maintains
creative control while De La Espada realises the designs
through premium materials and expert craftsmanship.
