Set in the beating heart of historic Naples in via Toledo, between the Basilica of the Spirito Santo and the university complex of the same name, this apartment which has undergone various planimetric and volumetric changes over time aims at providing an oasis of peace and silence cut out from the hustle and bustle of the pulsating city life below.

The interior design by Paola Sola aims at enhancing a space that was previously fragmentary and rigid in its layout, transforming the plani-volumetric complexity deriving from its leyered history into an opportunity, and configuring the environments according to the needs of the clients who are passionate about reading.

The dwelling is characterised by a sequence of interconnected spaces at various levels, including height variations, double heights and mezzanine floors, accessible through new metal staircases with an ethereal and sculptural silhouette that punctuate the space.

The room heights of about 6 metres allowed for the placement of large book shelves and study corners as an adjunct to the living areas.
The choice of finishing materials (from the natural oak plank flooring to the hemp and lime plaster wall coverings that allow the surfaces to breathe naturally) gives a warm and essential aura to the rooms.

A palette of soft, earthy tones paints the enclosures, against which the selected chromatic traces of staircases, works of art and furnishings with their sober, clean lines stand out.

The result is an intimate and peaceful environment, articulated but unified, reflecting a concept of living where simplicity and attention to detail are synonymous of elegance and design sensitivity.
