Office Costline designed a new café for Shanghailander, a bakery and pastry brand, located on the residential North Lingling Road, opposite a primary school. The café is conceived as a kiosk bar, open to the street and to community: the main facade is recognisable by folding wooden doors and windows, which aim to connect the interior with the city. At the centre of the bar, a triangular counter is topped by a metal vault, an independent structure intended as a mini-architecture inside the space. Each side of the counter, measuring 360 cm, responds to specific functions, such as the preparation of coffee and the display of products. The vault and the tiles covering the central structure are defined by a soft pink tone.
The rest of the room features caramel-coloured wood panels: surfaces distributing throughout the space and covering the curved bench surrounding the counter. The wall lamps echo the shape of the vault and a mirror on the wall at the entrance amplifies the ambience by reflecting the nearby street.
