In the fashion industry, brand collaborations are an increasingly common “exception”. Starting with the rumoured Gucci x Balenciaga capsule collection launched, there have been numerous cases of marriage between luxury and street brands in recent years, such as the collection Gucci itself presented with Adidas, or the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Supreme.
The international phenomenon has sold out in several cities around the world even though, as the company notes, the items in question are not a limited edition. This has led to online resale at a higher price, up to four times the original price.

The latest of these cases is the new collaboration between Swatch and Omega - another Swiss watchmaking giant - leaving hundreds of people queuing up in front of selected Swatch shops from 26 March 2022. Eleven collectible models have recently been launched as an inspiration and tribute to the iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch, the watch given to Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins during the Apollo 11 mission on 20 July 1969.

All Swatch models are made of BIOCERAMIC, the brand’s patented material, a unique mix of two-thirds ceramic and one-third material derived from castor oil. The eleven Bioceramic MoonSwatch models are named after hypothetical expeditions to as many celestial bodies in the solar system, playing with combinations of colours and materials to make them accessible to a much wider audience.
