A series of lampshades that investigate the intangibility of form

A project where the geometric volumes are characterized by falling threads that alternate with the light.

During the last years, the Austrian designer Laurids Gallée has distinguished himself for the use of resin as the main protagonist of his projects where the Tralucid series has become the most iconic and representative production of this designer. Observing Gallèe's work, we note that the objects he designed are the result of a metamorphosis of some elements such as the material and geometric volumes, which are reinterpreted at different moments through an additive creative synthesis.

This modus operandi can also be found in his latest Patras project, where the use of tubular neon and strings is also present in Ad Mensam lamp made by Gallée himself for the Schloss Hollenegg for Design project. In the new Patras series, Gallée abandons the use of resin and its morphological rigidity to devote himself to what he defines as the intangibility of form. This project consists of a series of lampshades where the geometric volumes are characterized by falling threads that alternate with the light. Therefore, the textile bodies contrasted with the brightness of the neon generate a sort of material illusion by focusing attention on the three distinctive elements of the project: light, form and matter that are enclosed in a fairy-tale design frame.
