Kohti is a recycled chair, conceived by Sergey Lvov for Levantin Design. The powder-coated metal structure defines soft lines and a thin back, while the circular seat is made of recycled plastic. Kohti, which in Finnish means “towards”, expresses the need to preserve the environment and to reduce waste. Produced in the Precious Plastic Ukraine Odessa workshop, the seat is a 20 mm surface made of recycled polyethylene: old black and white shampoo bottles were used, giving the chair its particular colouring.
The bottles are recycled by collecting, washing, sorting and breaking the pieces, then exposing them to heat and compressing the granules. Once solidified, the new element is cut with a CNC machine. Thanks to the use of polyethylene, the chair is non-toxic, UV-resistant and resistant to low temperatures.
