An arm-controlled bike helmet with integrated lights

Lumos Ultra will provide cyclists with front and tail light, plus left and right indicators that can be controlled either with a remote on the handlebar or through an Apple Watch.

With biking experiencing a great resurgence all over the world as an unexpected answer to the Coronavirus pandemic, staying safe when on the road is now more important than ever. Safety means of course wearing a proper helmet, but also being able to be seen better by car drivers, while being predictable to avoid being run over at an intersection. The new Ultra helmet by Lumos can help cyclist achieve exactly that, by offering head protection, front and tail light, and indicators, all in one neat package.

The helmet as an internal battery that can be easily recharged via USB-C, powering a bright front light, a highly visible red rear light and two bright indicators, which the biker can activate trough a portable remote controller gripped to the handlebar. Apple Watch users can also control the indicators just by raising the arm in a specific way, thanks to a Lumos companion app available on the iPhone for free. By offering everything the biker needs to stay safe on the road, the Lumos Helmet solves also another common problem: the theft of front and tail lights that any city rider has certainly experienced at least once.

As of now, Lumos Ultra can be bought only through Kickstarter, with a minimum contribution of 79$ to the - already wildly successful - crowdfunding campaign. Shipments will start in November 2020.
