During Frieze London 2019, Prada inaugurated the third edition of Prada Mode, a traveling and private club focused on contemporary culture with an installation by the American artist Theaster Gates and live projects by The Vinyl Factory and The Showroom.
A brutalist building at 180 The Strand has hosted for two days talks, installations and performances with the fashion designers Grace Wales Bonner and Samuel Ross, the graphic designer and OOMK’s founder Rose Nordin, the musician Bumi Thomas and the poets Inua Ellams and Julianknxx, who screened his new video “Roots for a crown” along with the musicians Thabo & Tawiah, and still Theaster Gates, who presented a new chapter of “Black Image Corporation”, exhibited at Milan’s Osservatorio Prada until January.
Again the artists Tremaine Emory, Simnikiwe Buhlungu, Amartey Golding, Phoebe Boswell, Belinda Zhawi and Project O, who all joined Collective Intimacy, a vast cultural program of shows, conferences and interventions in the name of black culture as a starting point for a vision of the cosmopolitan world.
Prada Mode: an itinerant art club in a brutalist building in London
The exclusive travelling Prada’s club has hosted performances, talks and installations by artists, designers, poets and musicians to discuss on black identity.
