Each one has customised a successful design from their collection with the 2016 PANTONE® Colour of the Year (PANTONE 13-1520 Rose Quartz and PANTONE 15-3919 Serenity). Mindfulness and wellbeing are the buzz words of this delicate balance, formed by mixing a warm embracing pink with a cooler tranquil blue to generate a soothing sense of order and peace.
The companies paid tribute to Domus magazine – this year celebrating its 1000 issue and 80th year in production – by customising an object that has sanctioned a major step forward in their research and design, testimony to painstaking work packed with innovation in both large and small editions and with an intermittent focus on materials, production processes, technology and new uses. These special editions will be on display throughout Design Week in the ten shop-windows of the United Colors of Benetton flagship store in Piazza del Duomo, designed by Fabrica. It also features the exceptional involvement of Citroën as the main project partner and, for this car manufacturer, the architect Mario Bellini has designed a new Cactus Chair in 3D moulded plastic, inspired by the design of the Citroën C4 Cactus and its Airbumps®, in a new take on an iconic feature of the renowned automobile model.
