1954-2004: The Italian Design Adventure

A homage to the history of design and a tribute to fifty years of the best in Italian design is offered by the Design Museum in Gent where until 26 November a selection from the Compasso d’Oro collection, curated by Claudia Donà and Maurizio Morgantini will be on show.

A homage to the history of design and a tribute to fifty years of the best in Italian design is offered by the Design Museum in Gent where until 26 November a selection from the Compasso d’Oro collection, curated by Claudia Donà and Maurizio Morgantini will be on show. In all, from 1954 to 2004, 335 objects have received an award and 1800 have been shortlisted, created by some of the top designers of all times: Mario Bellini, Andrea Branzi, Marcel Breuer, Achille Castiglione, Sergio Pininfarina, Kaj Franck, Gio Ponti, Renzo Piano, Richard Sapper, Marco Zanuso, Vico Magistretti, Ettore Sottsass and Bruno Munari. These objects today make up one of the biggest and most varied collections in the world, run by the Fondazione ADI. The film “1954-2004: The Italian Design Adventure” will be shown alongside the exhibition.
