Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway: Northern Europe will speak just one language in 2005 - that of design. The four Scandinavian countries have joined forces to attain an ambitious objective - to promote the northern European tradition of design and insert it into the global context, via a number of events on an international scale.
A few examples: at the Design Museum in Helsinki, Stefan Lindfors (16.9–2.10.2005) will tell the story of his career in an audio and video route; and 19-26 September is the first week marking Finnish design (www.helsinkidesignweek.fi).
The core feature of the entire event will, however, be “Era 05” (26-28.9.2005), the general meeting of ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design), which will be held simultaneously in the four capitals and involve approximately 1000 of the best design experts. The theme will be the new role of design and its challenges in the near future. E.S.
