Future Shack: the home of the future

To have a “Future Shack”, the home of the future, all you need is 30,000 dollars. To build it, you need just 24 hours. Made inside a shipping container, already furnished (minimal but comfortable) including bathroom, electric generator and thermal insulation, it is the brainchild of Australian architect Sean Godsell, winner in 2001 of a competition set by Architecture for Humanity.

“It’s the ideal solution for dealing with emergency situations and offering a valid alternative dwelling for populations of the third world,” claims the designer. The prototype is now on show in the garden of the Cooper Hewitt. E.S.
