Japan celebrates Loewy, pioneer of design

It is said of him that he designed everything: from lip-gloss to locomotives. But in Japan Raymond Loewy is best known for the cigarette packet ‘Peace’, launched onto the market in 1952. Eighteen years after his death, the Tobacco & Salt Museum in Shibuya pays homage to his design genius and ideal of simplicity (“The main goal is not to complicate the already difficult life of the consumer” he often said), illustrating the long career of the father of industrial design.
