Sculpture in light: Noguchi at the Mart

According to Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) “everything is sculpture. Any material, any idea without hindrance born into space, I consider sculpture”.
His work forms the centre of an extensive travelling retrospective which after having moved around Europe over the last two years, now comes to Mart in Rovereto (until 4 May).

The exhibition, curated by Robert Wilson, includes sculptures and product design (furniture for Knoll, Akari lamps in rise paper and bamboo).
It also covers his work as a set designer (with Martha Graham, George Balanchine and Merce Cunningham) and designer of gardens, play areas and urban spaces (in collaboration with, amongst others, Kenzo Tange and Gordon Bunshaft).

until 4.5.2003
