The design piece with which De Lucchi is most often associated has to be the Tolomeo lamp, and hence the year of its birth provides the starting point for an exhibition which opens 7 June at the church of San Lorenzo in Aosta.

Tolomeo has had a great deal of fortune, it was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1989 and is the lamp of contemporary design most sold in the world. It is also produced in a wide range of versions (floor lamp, table lamp, spotlight, hanging lamp, clip lamp, mini version). An important design therefore which marked a watershed and became a reference point for all that came before and was to come after it.

"Michele De Lucchi: Dopotolomeo", curated by Michele De Lucchi and Silvia Suardi, brings together – for the first time – all the projects carried out from 1986 up to today: design objects such as vases and lamps made by Produzione Privata, lamps for Artemide, architectural projects with models of electric power stations for Enel Produzione, photographs and models of the Poste Italiane, architecture built in Japan, sketches and curiosities.
