“It’s been called cute, I suppose because it reminds everyone of a car, it’s iconographically very car-like in a naive way. It’s more comfortable because of the functionality in the way the doors open very easily, and the size of the ‘greenhouse’ (the cabin space above the line of the steering wheel). The proportion of space inside is quite good in relation to the size of the car itself. There’s substantially less confusion because I’ve pared down the design. I’m not embellishing anything. I’m drawing attention to the things that need to be focussed on, not some dumb ellipses that intersect the instrument panel in pointless ways”.
