Transart is back, the arts and multimedia festival in South Tyrol

Punk-rock concerts, western reinterpretations in South Tyrolean version, music in greenhouses and factories, one-day happenings, a futurology and performance conference: the most interesting events in the experimental festival’s new edition.

Two weeks of music, art, technology and multimedia in the most evocative and less conventional places of South Tyrol: is Transart, the festival that returns, after a year of forced stop due to the pandemic, from 9th to 24th of September 2021, in an interdisciplinary and experimental key. The event features a programme of events involving international artists, a network of important public and private institutions and sought-after locations, from hydroelectric power stations to industrial warehouses, from the towns and meadows in the shadow of the mountains to the monasteries, up to the hyper-technological places of the new contemporary productivity.

Transart opens with the feminist icon Peaches: in the live Del femminismo e dell'essere fedeli a sé stessi (About feminism and being faithful to itself) the musician, performer and filmmaker will perform with Clusterfuck, a contemporary dance team. The festival continues through punk-rock lives, western reinterpretations, music in greenhouses and factories, performances, one-day happenings and a futurology conference. Through the "festival in the festival" Day Rave, organized by the Berlin artist Isabel Lewis with Syntax Ensemble and Museion - contemporary art museum of Bolzano, will open the doors of rave culture in the spaces of the central S. Antonio in Bolzano, while among the the Antonio Dalle Nogare Foundation’s vineyards will happen UNHEARD, five hours of music, a tribute to Iannis Xenakis’ art, twenty years after his death.

Virtual reality, on the other hand, will be at the centre of The Chalkroom, the project hosted at the Galleria Civica in Bolzano and created by the artist Laurie Anderson together with Hsin-Chien Huang; in parallel, it will be possible to interact with Head in a Cluod, an interactive place in augmented reality designed by the young architect Valerie Messini. And again, the Transart program welcomes the project of the South Tyrolean artist Hannes Egger, with instructions to follow at the stove of their kitchen tuning on RAI Südtirol, and terraXcube, the Center for the simulation of extreme climates of the Applied Research Center EURAC, habitable project of Peter Senoner focused on the climatic variations existing on the planet.
