Alterazioni Video brings the Russian circus to Venice

During the opening of the up-coming Art Biennale in Venice, Alterazioni Video collective will be creating a shared public space, bringing Russian circus traditions to Italy.

On the occasion of the 58th International Art Exhibition in Venice, which will open to the public on 11 May, the V-A-C Foundation, the prestigious Russian foundation established in Moscow in 2009 by Leonid Mikhelson and directed by Teresa Iarocci Mavica, will be hosting at its Venice branch a rich programme of events, meetings, performances and the exhibition “Time, Forward!”  with eleven large installations produced for the occasion.

Opening the celebrations from 8 to 10 May on the waterfront in front of the V-A-C branch at the Zattere, (Dorsoduro 1401) will be The New Circus Event a three-day performance open to the public.

The idea could only be that of the artistic collective Alterazioni Video. Intriguing, inclusive and absorbing, Alterazioni Video is staging a programme of artists, jugglers, circus performers, strange characters, nerds, fanatics, dancers, monsters and ascetics. The idea is to present a contemporary version of the free, anarchic and democratic Russian circus tradition of creating a shared and participative space. We look forward to seeing them in Venice.
