Three artists, each with a room at his disposal, to be used as a stage on which to show their installations, but also as an instrument for broadcasting a “chamber concert”. Jannis Kounellis, Sol Lewitt and Franz West stage the relation between sound and space, room and communication, image and resonance, with “Camere”, the multivalent event opening December 7th at 7 pm at RAM, RadioArteMobile, where the Sound Art Museum also is located (www.soundartmuseum.net).
Kounellis surprises spectators with a mountain of canvases in which paint has left its traces; Sol Lewitt imitates the profile of Swiss mountain peaks, using the primary colours typical of his wall drawings, and chooses the rarefied music of Alvin Lucier as his background; Franz West and Tamuna Sirbiladze occupy the space with reinterpretations of domestic furniture accompanied by music verging on noise, by Philip Quehenberger, performed live. The tradition of chamber music is thus brought back to life, and played in a modern key.
To find out more, tune in - from 8pm to 9pm on the 7th - to www.radioartemobile.it, and click on RAM Live, for the live broadcast conducted by Riccardo Giagni and Daniele Pieroni, during which, in addition to the three main artists in the exhibition, Corrado Bologna, Franco Fabbri, Cesare Pietroiusti and Emanuele Trevi will also be heard. For the occasion the artist Alberto Garutti will create a unit consisting of a table and chairs that light up in the dark, as a way of emphasizing the magic of resonance itself. L.M.
