B.Zarro: nomad art at the Stazione Termini

The Stazione Termini, Rome’s main railway station, used every day by 500 thousand travellers, is an unusual venue for exhibitions and cultural events but it will be hosting B. Zarro’s monumental sculptures until the end of the month. They are compelling and colossal installations, projects that have chosen the most used public space – with its shops, ticket offices, corridors and waiting rooms – and prompt reflection on major social themes.

One is the ‘Pappamondo’, a skeleton planisphere with the northern hemisphere intact while the southern one crumbles, symbolizing the social and political destruction of the south part of the world. There are also 53 mattresses, piled one on top of the other, each one portraying the flag of an African state and, all together, condensing the essence of the entire continent. Curated by Gianluca Marziani, the exhibition is sponsored by the World Food Programme and the International Organization for Migration. E.S.
