Kiki Smith at MoMA

“Kiki Smith: Prints, Books and Things” at the MoMA in New York until 8 March is an extensive collection of the work of the American artist noted for her sculptures but also for her experimentation with print and lithographs that extend the possibilities of this medium.

“Kiki Smith is among the most prolific and committed artists to use the printed medium as a creative outlet. Her passion for and facility with paper, a material she has explored extensively in sculpture, has fuelled her innovative endeavours in prints and books, resulting in intricately folded and layered compositions of delicate handmade sheets”, explains curator of the exhibition Wendy Weitman who has brought together twenty years of work for the exhibition – over 150 prints, lithographs, books with original prints by the artist, fabrics, posters and tattoos – organised in subject groups: “Early Screenprints”, “Anatomy”, “Self-Portraits”, “Nature” and “Feminine Contexts”.
